Art in México and New México – I had been looking for a change in my painting for months. I strived to innovate, but my creativity seemed restricted to subjects only; my brushstroke and my colors felt boring to me, always more of the same. Impatiently I delved in my long art book collection. Among the many, one jumped out which I had bought a few years ago yet never really read: Kevin Macpherson’s “Fill Your Paintings with Light and Color” I picked it up and browsed through the photos, finding the brushstrokes fresh and spontaneous. How We found Puerto Vallarta in a Changing World – Well, my wife and I have landed in Puerto Vallarta and this time, finally, we think it’s for good. I think it will depend a lot upon how much the love of art in this wonderful place will continue to decline and how much Puerto Vallarta becomes a commercial port. A Lifetime Experience – Today I witnessed a very magical, once in a lifetime experience. I was walking along the totally deserted north end of the beach in San Pancho around 2pm and was suddenly aware of a noise. As I turned to look back I realized that I had just walked past a nesting Ridley Sea Turtle. She seemed huge! Read more
New Organic Farm ib San Pancho – As you all know, the jungle girl loves her greens and veggies. With this in mind, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Britta Jankay and her new organic farm in San Pancho, “Ranchito Del Mar”. When I visited Britta’s fantastic ranchito last week I felt like a kid in a candy store! The garden is heaven (see photos attached). Pets for Life Team was Well Equipped for the Spay & Neuter Clinic in San Pancho – Thanks to donations from Dr. Malcolm Macartney at McKenzie Veterinary Services in Victoria, BC, the Pets for Life Team now has full trays of surgical instruments as well as two new stainless steel surgery tables. Planting Roots in Mexico – The Birds of Paradise – “Flamboyant” has been used to describe the Bird of Paradise. Native to the southern and eastern parts of the Cape Province and northern Natal in South Africa, I can think a no more apt a name than that!
